Year 6

Congratulations to our Year 6 children for achieving a 100% pass rate in the Swimming National Curriculum. This year’s test was especially demanding because it included swimming a minimum of 25 metres with their clothes on. Eyton has a great tradition with swimming success. Over recent years we have won several swimming galas  and many of our children have represented our school at County level. Well done Year 6 what great ambassadors our school has!

Arrangements for January

Our new head teacher Mrs Whitgreave will start school in January.

Mrs Whitgreave will be in the office every morning planning school development, managing the building and resources and monitoring teaching and learning. In the afternoons she will be working in the Year 3&4 class.

Miss Harrison will be teaching Years 3&4 in the mornings. Miss Harrison will also be covering Miss Jesson and Mr Griffiths’ planning and assessment time one afternoon per week. (Miss J and Mr G still need to decide which afternoons these will be).  Miss Wright will be on hand to support when needed.

Mr Griffiths will carry on teaching Years 5&6  ably assisted by Mrs Davies.

Miss Jesson will be moving back into the Foundation Phase class full time to coordinate the lego building and puppets with Mrs Madsen and Mrs Jones!

If you have any questions about who will be with your children, please pop in for a chat. Thanks to all our parents who have supported the school during this transitional period. It’s been a challenge and the school is now ready for its next phase of development.  Thank you.

RE and Collective Worship  =  Christmas Performances

Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 will be performing A Spaceman came Travelling based on the Chris de Burgh song, telling how a traveller from a far away world visited Earth two thousand years ago. Years 3,4,5 and 6 will be performing Scrooge based on the Charles Dickens novel ‘A Christmas Carol’.

Please return your form to school by Thursday so all spare tickets can be released on a ‘first come first served’ basis on Friday 9th December.

PTA Night Out

The PTA invite you to their end of term get together at Voodoo Moon in Brook Street Wrexham. (Ranked Number 1 on Trip Advisor for things to do in Wrexham.) Come along for cocktails and a chat . No booking needed.

Yoga

Continuing after Christmas, every Wednesday 6.45-7.45pm here at Eyton School in the hall. £5 per session to cover fully qualified instructor and use of mats etc. Yoga is a great way to relax even if it just means an hour away from the house! Beginners welcome.

Christmas Jumper Day

Thanks to everyone who participated in the Reindeer Run on Friday. We raised  money for Nightingale House to provide much needed care. If you can spare another £1 please wear your most striking Christmas Jumper to school next Friday 16th.  If you don’t have a Christmas Jumper you can wear something red, green or sparkly, but please no football or rugby tops as we want to look Christmassy.

The winning design from Eyton Extras

‘Design a Jumper’ competition will be

announced on Friday Jumper Day.

National Tests

All children in Years 2,3,4,5,6 will be completing tests in Maths and English between 3rd and 10th May 2017. This is a national initiative to help raise standards in literacy and numeracy across Wales. It is essential that all children are in school during this week. Further information and details will follow in the coming months to help you prepare your child should you wish to do so. Thank you.

Attendance This week our total was 95%, down on last week’s 96%. The top class this week was Mr Griffiths’ class with 98%. Well done years 5&6! Please make sure you arrange medical and dental appointments for after school wherever possible. Keeping your child at home for 48 hours after sickness and diarrhoea bugs ensures it is not passed on to the rest of school.  Thanks
Newsletter News

In the next few weeks our newsletter will be changing. It will still be weekly, but will come from Wrexham.gov.uk rather than mailbox@eyton or Jessons@hwbmail. You do not need to do anything, you will still get our newsletter, but the sender will look different. We will be part of the Council’s email system (which works the same as bin reminders) but Eyton will still be responsible for all content. This will automatically make the newsletter ‘mobile friendly’ for those of you who use your phone to access emails. If you know anyone who would like to receive our newsletters, please tell them to log onto Wrexham Council and sign up for email updates—we will be under the SCHOOLS tab. If you do not wish to receive the emails there will be an UNSUBSCRIBE button for you to manage your preferences. This will be an exciting way forward for our school and we hope you will continue to support us.
