Infection control

It’s Christmas! (well nearly) and it’s also the time of year that the inevitable cold and flu germs are in full swing in homes and schools across the country. Germs and viruses are rampant in classrooms, and most children, families and school staff get sick several times throughout the school year. In schools, where children are in close and frequent physical contact with each other, infectious diseases can spread rapidly. Outbreaks of infection not only interrupt the schooling of affected children but they can also disrupt the school’s routine and can incur costly control measures (e.g. for environmental cleaning or destruction of food supplies). Fortunately, there are a number of simple procedures that all schools can implement to help protect children and staff from infections and reduce the risk of outbreaks. Please see the attached poster for ideas (the poster is also on the noticeboard outside school.)
